D-Day Celebrations & Remembrance

Residents and team members at Guisborough Manor spent the day reminiscing and discussing the Normandy landings ...

... sharing their memories, and stories of their loved ones during this time, and making sure our team know how lucky they are that they have not needed to go to war. It was a somber, but interesting day, finished off with the wonderful Christine Rosemond, honoring those who lost their lives in 1944 with wartime favourites.

80 years ago today, over 4,000 troops lost their lives, many of whom were teenage boys, in what was the largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare: D-Day, 6th June 1944.

We will never forget their bravery and sacrifice of those very brave British, Canadian and American soldiers on that day.
