Kicking off the VE Day celebrations at Park View

We had the dementia puppet show in on Sunday 4th May to kick off the VE day celebrations this week.

VE Day was declared on 8 May 1945, after Britain and its allies formally accepted Nazi Germany's surrender after almost six years of war. It is an important celebration to host for those living in a care home especially as this year is the 80th anniversary since that wonderful day.

It is celebrated in many ways and one way we celebrated was with the use of puppets. Puppetry encourages those with dementia to accept characters, narratives, and scenarios, thereby fostering imaginative thinking and creative problem-solving skills plus reminiscing for many.

Our residents really enjoyed the day and afterwards there was some delicious chocolate covered strawberries, cake pops and ice-cream floats made by the kitchen to eat.
