Pampering for the Girls

Our EMI (elderly mentally infirm) residents at Park View Care Home had a pamper session with our dementia champion Donna recently - don't they look amazing!

Our ladies on the top floor had a lovely pamper session over the weekend with Donna. She blow dried their hair & styled it as if they were at the salon. The women loved the time spent with them.

Helping a person with dementia maintain his or her appearance can promote positive self-esteem. Some people find personal grooming such as manicures or pedicures, massage, or hair appointments very relaxing and may enjoy this as a social and pleasurable activity.

The person might have been used to going to the beauty salon, hairdresser or barber in the past and may want to continue to do this when coming into a care home. It’s important to continue routines for them as much as possible.
