Reflection Room: First Session Success
Our first Reflection Room brought together 50 colleagues from across St Martins Care for an open discussion on our first theme, Men in Care - Working and Living.
The session created an opportunity for colleagues to share their experiences, listen to different perspectives and reflect on an important topic affecting our sector.
One of the most positive messages to come from the discussion was hearing from our male colleagues that they feel valued, respected and fully integrated within our teams. It's something we're incredibly proud to hear and reflects the inclusive culture we're continuing to build across St Martins Care.
The conversation also highlighted how views on gender can differ across cultures, encouraging us to think more carefully about the assumptions we make. This was particularly relevant when considering the preferences and interests of the people we support, reminding us that every resident is an individual.
Reflecting on the session, CEO Hayley Robertshaw said:
“For me personally, it was a valuable reminder to stay curious and open-minded, particularly in relation to assumptions about what male residents may or may not want to engage in. Thank you to everyone who contributed so honestly and respectfully. It certainly gave me food for thought, and I’m looking forward to building on this momentum in future sessions."
The Reflection Room will continue each month, providing colleagues with the opportunity to come together, share experiences and explore the topics that matter across care.
The Reflection Room is just one of the ways we're investing in our people and the culture we're building together. If you'd like to be part of the St Martins Care team, take a look at our current vacancies.
